Steel is the most recycled materials in the world, as it can be transformed into new products without losing its physical and chemical properties. With this in mind, Industeel’s steel recycling philosophy is important, minimizing waste and preserving natural resources.
Throughout our production cycles, we aim to recover as much of our waste as possible, whether it’s refractory materials from casting or steel dust. But end-of-life steel is just the starting point for XCarb® steel is made from high levels of recycled steel using 100% renewable electricity.
XCarb® brings together all of ArcelorMittal’s reduced, low, and zero-carbon steelmaking products and activities, along with broader initiatives and innovation projects, in a single effort focused on achieving demonstrable progress toward carbon-neutral steel.
XCarb® RRP is our low-carbon steel range with a guaranteed percentage of recycled steel to meet our customer’s emerging requirements.
We produce steel using high levels of recycled steel scrap metal, processed in an electric furnace (EAF), where all the energy used comes from renewable sources (wind and solar).
The production of our low-carbon steel is monitored and certified by independent organizations.
Industeel wants to go beyond its obligations and take positive actions for future generations. This is why Industeel has committed to the ResponsibleSteel initiative led by a non-profit organization that brings together steel producers, car manufacturers, mining companies, NGOs, and professional associations. The standard contains 12 principles and some 200 requirements that serve as a benchmark for responsible steel production.
