ISSF Silver Award for Industeel UR® 2205 Duplex steel

ArcelorMittal won the ISSF Silver Award for Best New Application featuring New Market Developments for the tidal sluice gates at Mont Saint Michel. Thanks to the very strong anti-corrosion properties of Industeel duplex steel UR® 2205, the UNESCO-listed tourist hot spot Mont Saint-Michel was freed from the sand and has become an island again. The main objective was to build a dam on the Couesnon River to flush away sediment with the flow of water. Steel for the dam valves were produced at Industeel Le Creusot plant.

The ISSF (International Stainless Steel Forum) presents Awards to recognize excellence in the development of new applications for stainless steel. The Awards are presented in two categories: The Award for the Best New Application featuring new Technology and The Award for the Best New Application featuring New Market Development. The winning entries are selected from submissions from members or their customers. More information at www.worldstainless.org.
