Forging dies

Nickel based alloys

Super – austenitic

Highly alloyed iron-nickel-chromium stainless steels containing molybdenum have been developped to respond to severe corrosion specifications.

Austenitic ferritic duplex

Duplex stainless steels were born and have been actively developed by European companies since 1935. In view of the continuous improvement of their properties and their growing availability, Duplex stainless steels will remain an attractive solution to the future needs of designers and users in mechanical engineering.

Specialties

These grades have been developped by our researchers in close collaboration with our customers to meet their stringent and specific requirements.

Austenitic

These are the most popular of the stainless steels because of their ductility, ease of working and good corrosion resistance; they are derived from the 18Cr-8Ni stainless steel Type 304. The other grades are developed to provide special corrosion resistance properties by adding Molybdenum, Chromium and/or decreasing Carbon content (L grades).

Heat resistant alloys

Heat resistant alloys have to be strong and resistant to oxidation or other corrosion processes.

These grades are used for many critical components in a wide range of applications including power generation, chemical processing and gas turbine.

Ferritic martensitic

These grades are characterized by a very low content of nickel (less than 1%). Their low carbon content prevents hardening by heat treatment and induce a better corrosion resistance than martensitic stainless steels.

High strength (690MPa)

Amstrong® Ultra 690 grades are high yield strength steels for welded and weight – saving structures

Very high strength (890MPa)

Amstrong® Ultra 890 is a quenched and tempered steel for structure with higher strength.

Ultra high strength (960MPa)

Amstrong® Ultra 960 is a quenched and tempered steel for structure with very high strength.

Extreme high strength (1100MPa)

Thanks to its minimum yield strength of 1100 MPa, Amstrong® Ultra 1100 enables large weight savings or support higher stresses and thus carry higher payloads.

Rolled homogeneous armor – Mars® 190

Easy processing (for a wide range of thicknesses), while keeping good and multipurpose ballistic properties for any kind of threat

Medium hard armor – Mars® 220

Mars® 220 for 440 HB applications (blast and IED protection, V shape floors, underbelly for heavy tanks…)

Naval grades

For submarine hulls and surface vessels, ballistic protection is essential and steels with very high mechanical performance (high yield strength) and sufficient workability for cutting, forming and welding are needed.

Steels for sour service

The HIC or SOHIC grades are special high strength normalized or quenched and tempered CMn grades adapted for pressure equipment. These grades are manufactured via the electric arc furnace with desulfurisation, dephosphorisation, ladle refining and vacuum degassing to provide reproducible, clean and homogeneous steel.

Steel plates and profile cut pieces

Industeel can make heavy ingots up to 130 t unit weight in a full range of special steel chemistries. These ingots can then be transformed into high quality extra-heavy plates through a unique combination of forging and rolling to ensure excellent internal plate quality and good dimensional tolerances and surface quality.

SuperElso® 690CR is a 690 MPa (100 ksi) yield strength quenched and tempered steel adapted for legs of offshore jack-up platforms.

Welded elements for jack-up rigs

Offshore oil & gas fields are explored using jack-up rigs that must guarantee the highest level of operating safety. The steel making up the structural elements, particularly the legs, must offer exceptional mechanical characteristics, in particular very high yield strength in addition to high toughness at low temperatures and sufficient weldability.
