Mould components used when processing chemically aggressive plastics or for humid or corrosive working conditions, for many plastic moulding processes such as extrusion, injection, blow and compression moulding…
Die casting industry is very cautious in the selection of hot work tool steels to manufacture die casting dies.
In the production of long series, die life time is the first requirement, and tool steel quality / properties will always prevails on its cost, which does not mean that there is no need for cost saving in the die manufacture….
Industeel produces prehardened steel grades and available in a very large dimensional program (width ~ 78“ – 2 m thickness up to 37.4” – 950 mm).
Forged-rolled plates and blocks can be supplied for critical thick-product applications where specific properties are required throughout the thickness or for stringent ultrasonic testing specifications…
Duplex stainless steels were born and have been actively developed by European companies since 1935. In view of the continuous improvement of their properties and their growing availability, Duplex stainless steels will remain an attractive solution to the future needs of designers and users in mechanical engineering.
These are the most popular of the stainless steels because of their ductility, ease of working and good corrosion resistance; they are derived from the 18Cr-8Ni stainless steel Type 304. The other grades are developed to provide special corrosion resistance properties by adding Molybdenum, Chromium and/or decreasing Carbon content (L grades).
These grades are characterized by a very low content of nickel (less than 1%). Their low carbon content prevents hardening by heat treatment and induce a better corrosion resistance than martensitic stainless steels.
For submarine hulls and surface vessels, ballistic protection is essential and steels with very high mechanical performance (high yield strength) and sufficient workability for cutting, forming and welding are needed.
The HIC or SOHIC grades are special high strength normalized or quenched and tempered CMn grades adapted for pressure equipment. These grades are manufactured via the electric arc furnace with desulfurisation, dephosphorisation, ladle refining and vacuum degassing to provide reproducible, clean and homogeneous steel.
Many industries use mechanical parts that place heavy demands on the steel used. Depending on the targeted function, the needed special properties may be mechanical strength, weldability, machinability, formability or large size or thickness.
Rings are manufactured according to international standards or customer specifications, in a large range of readily available steel grades (weldable carbon steel, low-alloy steels, alloyed steels for carburizing or nitriding, and stainless steel).
Industeel can make heavy ingots up to 130 t unit weight in a full range of special steel chemistries. These ingots can then be transformed into high quality extra-heavy plates through a unique combination of forging and rolling to ensure excellent internal plate quality and good dimensional tolerances and surface quality.
Forged-rolled plates and blocks can be supplied for critical thick-product applications where specific properties are required throughout the thickness or for stringent ultrasonic testing specifications.
Oil and Gas pipelines are exposed to increasingly aggressive environments, in terms of corrosivity, temperature and pressure. Clad pipes made from metallurgical roll bonded clad plate offer the best material solution to these most demanding applications.
Offshore oil & gas fields are explored using jack-up rigs that must guarantee the highest level of operating safety. The steel making up the structural elements, particularly the legs, must offer exceptional mechanical characteristics, in particular very high yield strength in addition to high toughness at low temperatures and sufficient weldability.
